Anaheim’s 21st Annual Nutcracker Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Village

November 21st, 2015

Saturday, December 5th is a special day in Anaheim. The 21st annual Nutcracker Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Village extravaganza goes all day from 10am to 7pm! Admission is free, and it’s the local way to start the holiday season in style. Located in downtown Anaheim on Center Street Promenade, you’ll find holiday crafting activities for the family and a play area with real snow. There’s the children’s train ride and free meet and greets/photos with Santa too.

Kick back and enjoy holiday musical shows from local community organizations and schools all day long. The Holiday Shopping Village is open for business, offering unique presents at each downtown Anaheim shop. Culinary treats from the International Food Fair is readily available, and it all ends with a procession hosted by the Combined Choirs of the Anaheim Union High School at 5:45pm.

You’ve Never Seen a Celebration Like This!

By far, one of the most impressive feats is the lighting of the huge 50-foot Christmas tree. Each year there’s a surprise guest, so you have to come down to see who’s hosting this year! It lights up to the tune of a holiday musical performance compliments of the Anaheim Ballet and Combined Choirs of the AUHSD.

This day-long event takes up the entirety of Center Street Promenade, and the big redwood Christmas tree is located at the west end. A gift from Disney Resorts, the living tree grows one foot per year and this is its 19th year!

Tips For Your Disney Summer Adventure

April 25th, 2014

disneyland-splash-mountain-lSummer is upon us and the kids are ready for a break. There is no better place to go than to Disneyland. While this may seem like a daunting place for parents in the hot summer months, have no fear, it can be fun for parents too. Disneyland has something for everyone and we want to help make your vacation the best it can be. We have composed a list of helpful tips that will no doubt, make your trip much easier and more enjoyable.

  1. Get there early. If you want to avoid the long lines at the park entrance, be sure to get to the park early. Gates open at 8 am and the park is the least crowded between opening and 11:30am. You may choose to ride the popular rides before the lines start to get long.
  2. Fastpass. One word is all you need. It does exactly as you would expect, make things faster. The Fastpass can save you time from standing in line. Just go to a fastpass ticket machine to get your fastpass for the ride you would like. Show up at the ride at the time marked on the fastpass and you can hop on the ride, generally with little to no line at all. Keep in mind, you can only have one fastpass at a time and the popular rides tend to book up quickly to take advantage of the early morning no crowds.
  3. Enjoy the Evenings. In the summer Disneyland is open until midnight. Crowds tend to taper off towards the end of the day which gives you the enjoyment of the park with less crowds, cooler breezes and lots of nighttime entertainment.
  4. See a show. Walking around the park all day can wear on your feet. Catch Disney’s top rated performers while you cool off in a comfortable chair for 45 minutes. Its just what you need to recharge and get ready to hop back on those rides.
  5. California Adventure. Take advantage of the Park Hopper ticket. This allows you to visit both Disneyland and California Adventure which features some great rides such as Cars Land and Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. It also has fewer crowds than Disneyland so it is a great place to check out mid day when the lines are too long at Disneyland.

Got Basketball?

March 22nd, 2014

March MadnessWhether you are a sports fanatic or not, March Madness is an epidemic. It has non sports goers cheering and battling it out with their friends over their perfect bracket. Grab your buddies or your girlfriends and grab a beer together at one of our local sports watching hot spots.

Harvey’s is a local favorite. Known for cheap drinks and a divvy feel, many come to get away from the crowds and have a beer with friends. While it has the feel of a dive, it is a little more upscale than your typical dive. During commercial breaks, enjoy a fun game of pool or darts to keep the competition going.

ESPN Zone is another great sports watching spots with all of their TV’s. With March Madness in full swing, it is guaranteed that every big screen in this place will have a game on so you always have the best seat in the house no matter where you are sitting.

Hooters is your typical go-to for sports watching. You can always expect great atmosphere, cold beer and good wings with this hot spot. It is a guaranteed winner no matter when you go.

Lopez & Lefty’s Sports Bar is a great venue to catch a game with all of the flat screens throughout. Known for their burgers (take your pick, they are all delicious!) locals flock to this spot over and over again. Don’t like the game? Just look at the next screen! With continual sports and over 10 beers on tap, you will feel right at home.
