US Military Ships in Anaheim

Well, hello Sailor! Anaheim has a rich naval history since the OC is one of the grandest ports of call in the country. Take a day trip to the US Military Ships and Naval Museums; fun for history buffs, families or anyone who has a love of the open water. The USS Midway and the USS Iowa-Pacific Battleship Center are both in the San Diego Bay area, which isn’t far from your Anaheim Inn accommodations.

The USS Midway Museum is the oldest US Navy aircraft carrier of the past century. You’ll see the huge vessel as soon as you arrive—it’s impossible to miss! It was the first warship to travel the Panama Canal, and even though it was commissioned in 1945, it still looks like a stunner. It served for nearly 50 years then retired as a museum just 11 years ago.

The audio tour gives you the best peek into the history of the ship. You can easily spend days exploring the vessel, with each nook and cranny offering up a different glimpse into its history. The USS Iowa, known as the Battleship of the Presidents, is not quite as large but the history is just as rich.

Well worth the trip, nothing compares to spending a day on board some of the most famous vessels in the country. Gift shops, nearby restaurants and the killer views are the perfect nightcap for this trip!
